Chocobo GP and the free-to-download Chocobo GP Lite will be available on the Nintendo Switch on March 10, 2022. The free mythril login bonus campaign end date to be announced at a later date. Lasting roughly two months, each Season will present special rewards which players can earn by raising their season score and season level through participation in Chocobo GP Mode. This first Season will also introduce a 64-player bracket-style tournament called Chocobo GP Mode. Any mythril obtained in the Lite edition will carry over to the full version of the game for players who upgrade. However, some restrictions apply to the Mythril Shop within the Lite version. Players of both the full version of Chocobo GP and Chocobo GP Lite can receive this login bonus. Via the Prize Pass, players can obtain Final Fantasy VII’s protagonist Cloud Strife as a level reward.Īdditionally, all owners of the full game will have the chance to obtain Final Fantasy VIII’s Squall Leonhart from the Gil Shop. Gil can be used to purchase various rewards in the game’s Gil Shop.Īs a Season One login bonus, all players can obtain 800 mythril, which is equivalent to an entire Prize Pass for a limited time. The optional Prize Pass will be available for purchase, granting players access to additional rewards and the ability to earn resources (such as Gil) more efficiently. Chocobo GP Lite players can also test out the fast-paced 64-player tournaments in Chocobo GP mode. Hopefully, we’ll have even more Final Fantasy protagonists coming our way, like Bartz, Lightning, or Yuna someday. With Chocobo GP Lite, racers can play through the Story Mode prologue in single player mode and can participate in both local and online multiplayer races with up to eight racers, if hosted by a friend with the full version of the game. This confirms that Chocobo GP will have post-launch content through a seasonal Prize Pass, presumably with even more playable characters joining the fray. The game is a spiritual successor to Chocobo Racing on the original PlayStation, and in honour of the 1999 classic, Chocobo GP has just revealed the addition of Cloud Strife and Squall Leonhart as unlockable characters. This Nintendo Switch exclusive will not only feature a free-to-play Lite version, but also a Battle Pass-style system and new characters.įor the uninitiated, Chocobo GP is a kart racer featuring beloved characters from the Chocobo and Final Fantasy franchises, including fan-favourites Vivi and Steiner from Final Fantasy IX, as well as Terra from Final Fantasy VI. As noted, Chocobo GP Lite is the free version of the game, designed to give players a taste of what they can expect with the full retail version. Among the many announcements made by Square Enix during the recent Nintendo Direct was more information on the upcoming racer Chocobo GP.
